Chidozie Awaziem’s Nantes were narrowly defeated 1–0 by Terem Moffi’s Nice in game week four of Ligue 1.

Ivorian striker Jérémie Boga’s second-half strike made the difference as Les Aiglons got back to winning ways.

Despite the defeat, Awaziem stood out with an impressive defensive performance.

The Super Eagles centre-back made five clearances, two ball recoveries, and impressively completed 100% of both his ground duels and aerial duels.

Going forward, he also contributed significantly to build-up play, completing 59 accurate passes with a 91% success rate.

Seven of those passes reached the final third, and he successfully completed 71% of his long balls.

Meanwhile, his compatriot and fellow Nigerian international, Terem Moffi, came off the bench in the 62nd minute.

He nearly made an immediate impact, forcing a brilliant save from Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont with a flicked header — arguably the best save of the match.

Moffi was also involved in a goal, setting up Morgan Sanson, but the effort was ruled out for offside.

The result sees Nice climb to 9th in the table with six points from four matches, while Nantes sit 14th with just three points.

Despite their slow start, Les Canaris have only conceded three goals so far this season — highlighting that their biggest concern lies in attack, not defense.

Nice will face Brest next in Ligue 1, a crucial fixture that could build momentum ahead of their UEFA Europa League clash against Roma a few days later.

Nantes, on the other hand, will welcome Rennes to the La Beaujoire Stadium.

With both teams needing points after disappointing starts to the season, it promises to be a competitive encounter.
