As the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination process approaches, a leading contender for Etsako Federal Constituency, Chief Richard Lamai, has purchased the party’s nomination form to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.

His move has sparked fresh excitement across the constituency, with supporters describing it as a clear demonstration of readiness to serve and represent the people at the National Assembly.

Speaking shortly after obtaining the form, Lamai pledged to provide quality service delivery, purposeful and courageous representation, stressing that leadership is about serving the people.

He thanked APC leaders in Etsako Federal Constituency for their support so far and appealed to party faithful to back his aspiration during the nomination process.

“This is the time the constituency needs someone who can speak on the floor of the House, contribute to lawmaking that benefits the common man, attract development, and promote youth and women empowerment,” he said.

Some party leaders said Lamai’s aspiration offers Etsako the opportunity to regain a stronger and more visible voice at the National Assembly.

They noted that his growing popularity stems from his grassroots connection, accessibility and understanding of the people’s needs, adding that his candidacy could boost youth empowerment, constituency projects, infrastructure development and access to federal opportunities.

Supporters also pointed to the prospect of synergy with Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who currently represents Edo North in the Senate, saying coordinated efforts between the Red and Green Chambers could accelerate development in the constituency.

They, however, urged the state government and APC leadership at all levels to ensure a free, fair and transparent primary election that would allow party members to choose their candidate.
